We skipped the jalapeño. We found the end result too liquidy, and we had to strain the final dish before serving it (but see Note below). We may reduce the liquid from 3 cups to 1.5 cups. Otherwise, the flavor and texture were good. (May 2020)
Note: We are still adjusting to the settings on our new stove. It is possible that we did not have our burner set high enough, and that’s why the stew did not reduce enough.
